区别：
1）at
night
“在夜间，
在傍晚”
一般可指整个夜间或午夜以前。如：
e.g.My
mother
asks
me
not
to
have
the
light
on
at
night。
我妈妈叫我不要夜里让灯一直亮着。
Father
often
comes
home
from
work
at
night.
爸爸经常午夜下班回家。
2）in
the
night
“在夜间，在夜里（某个时候）”
e.g.I
hear
a
cry
for
help
in
the
night.
夜里我听到有人喊救命。
I
had
to
get
up
in
the
night.
那天夜里我非起来不可。
当这两个词组用作“在夜间”时，可以换用。
如：
e.g.Thieves
often
come
out
in
the
night
(at
night).
He
likes
to
work
in
the
night（at
night）.
如果表示“在傍晚”时，只能用at
night或
in
the
evening，而不能用
in
the
night。
e.g.The
school
is
over
at
seven
in
the
evening.

表示泛指的“在夜晚”。at
night
是固定搭配。night
前不加冠词，也没有其它修饰语，后面也不接短语或其它成份。

2.in
the
night
表示某个夜晚，不具体；后面不接其它修饰语，night
前用定冠词the，不用其它的修饰词。侧重于表示一个时间段，相当于during
the
night.

4)
He
came
to
me
at
8:30
in
the
night.
他那天晚上8:30到我这儿来的。
3.on
the/a
night
表示某一具体日期的夜晚，其后常跟of+具体日子或在night
前用其它的限定词来修饰。eg

The
story
happened
on
a
cold
winter
night.
这个故事发生在寒冷的夜晚。
6)
We
saw
the
play
on
the
first
night.
第一天晚上我们就看了那场戏。
7)
They
arrived
there
on
the
late
night
of
May
1st,
1985.
他们在1985年5月1日深夜到达那儿。
on
night
不能单独使用,
必须有具体的东西修饰night
才能用on,
即具体到哪一天的夜晚
at
night
就泛指夜晚....没有特定...可以单独使用
