ACL: Shanghai demolish Persik
SHANGHAI: Substitute Diego Alonso fired a second-half hat-trick as Shanghai Shenhua wrapped up their AFC Champions League campaign with a 6-0 thrashing of Indonesian side Persik Kediri.

Alonso bagged his treble in the final 11 minutes as the home side ran riot towards the end of the meaningless Group E encounter at the Yuanshen Stadium on Wednesday night.

Shenhua boss Osvaldo Gimenez Toledo had selected an all-Chinese side, pinning his hopes on forwards Xie Hui and Gao Lin winning the aerial battle with the Persik defence.

And the tactic paid dividends only nine minutes into the game when Persik goalkeeper Sandy Kurmia and defender Aris Indarto collided with each other, allowing Xie to collect the loose ball and put the hosts in front.
