虽然发生双水解,但在不加热的情况下水解产生的氨气、醋酸、碳酸等并不会大量挥发逃逸,这些水解产物的存在阻止了水解的持续进行,因此使这些盐能在水溶液中正常存在,而如硫化铝等遇水水解产生的氢氧化铝和硫化氢等迅速变成沉淀和气体从溶液中脱离,因此会发生完全的水解,不能在溶液中存在。

碳酸铵会双水解,(NH4)2CO3+H2O=NH3·H2O+NH4HCO3,其实碳酸铵晶体本身就散发出氨气的味道,遇水就必定会分解,因此没有碳酸铵溶液就是这个道理.
